Money Heist was sold for $2: Spanish Heist reality

“La Casa De Papel”, popularly known around the world by the English name “Money Heist” is a Spanish heist crime drama television series created by Alex Pena. After its release on the streaming platform Netflix, Money Heist, is currently the top viewed show in six countries. These countries include France, Italy, Chile, Portugal, Brazil, and Argentina.

According to a Spanish newspaper, the screenwriter of the series said that it was a failure in Spain.

“Contrary to what it seems, the life of the series is the story of a failure. Antena 3 cut the number of planned chapters. The series maintained decent figures, but nothing special. The feeling was not flattering and I was already thinking about the next projects of the producer.”

However, Since Netflix bought the series for two dollars, everything just changed drastically. The show becomes Netflix’s most-watched show in 2019 with an IMDb rating of 8.4.

Music and Theme

The famous song Bella Ciao associated with Money Heist is actually a pretty old one. This song was associated with protests during the second world war. It was used to rally the antifascist resistance in Italy. The song is a symbol of victory in a rebellion.

The characters were designed as multi-dimensional and complementary antagonists and anti-heroes whose moralities are ever-changing. Examples include Berlin, who shifts from a robber mistreating hostages, to one of the series’ most beloved characters. There is also the hostage Monica Gaztambide, as well as inspector Raquel Murillo, who eventually join the cause of the robbers.
